Established in 1901, Shandong University is one of China’s first institutions of Chinese modern higher education. In 1930, Shandong University moved from Jinan to Qingdao and all through its 30-year phase in Qingdao, the University enjoyed its two glorious periods, when the pioneering scholars gathered and we ranked among the top in China. In the past century, Qingdao has played a remarkable role in making of Shandong University’s history.
In 2016, Shandong University launched its new Qingdao campus and this campus became one of eight campuses of the University, with other six in Jinan and one in Weihai.
SDU was proudly selected as China’s Double First-Class Initiative (First-class University with First-class Disciplines) in 2017. The Qingdao campus is the new engine in achieving that goal with its innovative research, and extensive international collaboration. At present, it is comprised of 8 schools and 14 research institutes with more than 10,000 students and 1,000 faculty. Here, our researchers work across disciplines with colleagues combatting the same challenges from different perspectives. Here, international students and Chinese students immerse in a multi-cultural community to share knowledge and experiences.
